The Internet

“Computers are a extraordinary resource for teachers, they offer a library of resources so vast it defies the imagination, and nearly all students love using them” (Petty 2004,p.375)
Petty goes on to say “the internet links tens of millions of computers, allowing them to communicate and to access a colossal and chaotic library including the World Wide Web (www).” (2004, p.375)
In Teaching & Learning Online, Stephenson (2005 p.ix) talks about why governments and educational administrators are encouraging about the Internet and online learning potential. “Many teachers are attracted by the scope the medium offers for experimentation with the design of materials and, for a growing number of potential learners.”
How important is the internet? Well without it, I wouldn't have been able to create this blog! The bad side of it within the classroom is that it can be very slow due to poor connection, over reliance and students accessing inappropriate material and virus attacks.
